Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Clinician I will provide a variety of substance abuse and co-occurring disorder treatment services.  Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, in addition to the Policies and Procedures set-forth by Champions.  Ensure appropriate documentation within the electronic client records is maintained; which includes the use of a billing system and EHR.  Furthermore, work collaboratively with all divisions within Champions’ in order to provide integrated services and treatment for clientele.  Perform client assessments, provide group and individual treatment services and develop individualized treatment plans..


    • Minimum of two years' experience working with individuals with a history of mental illness and/or substance abuse.
    • Experience in child, adolescent, and family therapy.
    • Commitment to highest quality of strengths based, family system clinical care.
    • Strong clinical documentation skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and evidence based treatment approaches.
    • Knowledge and proficiency regarding Core Correctional Practices for substance use residential treatment.
    • Proficient in the area of program development and evaluation.
    • Effective leadership and management skills.
    • Working knowledge state and federal regulations relating to mental health services and substance abuse treatment.
    • Capable of presenting ideas, information and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to utilize analysis, objectivity, and clinical judgment to make informed decisions.
    • Basic and routine computer keyboarding, programs and software and advanced office management practices and operating procedures.
    • Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment, apply professional judgement in solving difficult issues, and to communicate in a clear, precise and professional manner.
    • Bilingual (English and Spanish speaking) preferred.
    • Criminal background clearance required.
    • Recovering individuals must have a minimum two years clean, sober and abstinent to be considered for employment.

Certifications / Requirements:

  • Working towards possession of a valid license to practice as a Marriage Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker, or Clinical Psychologist in the state of California. Registration must be active and in good standing with the state licensing board.
  • MA in social work, psychology, or related field +1 years' mental health experience; or BA in social work, psychology, or related field +2 years' mental health experience; or AA in social work, psychology, or related field +3 years' mental health experience and/or other relevant degree(s) and experience may be substituted.
  • Must have valid California Class C Driver's License; maintain a good safety record (verified by DMV at hire and periodically) and a reliable vehicle; proof of liability insurance if driving personal vehicle.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications, obtain within 90 days of employment and maintain current thereafter.
